October 2007 Staffordshire F.A. Challenge cup - Round One Hanley Town Reserves 1 Rocester Reserves 2
Manager Steve Swanwick described the first half as "very poor", but after switching to a more orthodox 4-4-2 after the break the game opened up.
Hanley took the lead against the run of play after about 50 minutes, and they held on to their lead for twenty minutes or so until Glyn Douglas chased a through ball and rifled it in off the under-side of the bar.
Ten minutes from time, Jon Lamburn played a one-two with new signing Dave Meredith and tucked it away to send the Romans through to Round 2.
Next Saturday, 13th October, the reserve team have a tough league fixture away at Ball Haye Green. |
