Monday 31st March 2008
This morning we received the sad news that
John Yates, one of our regular supporters, had died suddenly at home on
Saturday morning.
A lifelong football fan, John only
'discovered' Rocester Football Club during the last year or so but he
quickly grew to enjoy his afternoons and evenings at Hillsfield, so much
so that he began to contribute to the programme with his 'View From The
Hill' page, and he became our only season ticket holder - a fact that he
was particularly proud of.
John would usually be in the clubhouse
reading his programme and enjoying a pint before the game, then he would
take his place along the touchline in front of the press box where he
would enthusiastically support the team with his shouts of "Come on
Rocester!" and join in with the banter.
John will be sadly missed by all of us
at Rocester, and our sincere condolences and thoughts go out to his
family at this very difficult time.
We will be observing a one minute's
silence before next Saturday's match against Stratford Town in John's
memory. |
