2008-09 Presentation Evening - Friday 19th
June 2009
Rocester
Football Club held
their annual presentation evening at Hillsfield on Friday evening.
Central defender Chris McComisky (left) was the star of the show,
making a clean sweep of all three first team awards.
Manager Alan Beaman announced that he and his management team had picked
McComisky as their Managers' Player of the Season, and in the Players'
Player award he was again the near unanimous choice among his team
mates.
McComisky completed his hat-trick of awards when he was also named as
the Supporters Player of the Season, just edging out Martin Gadsby in a
very close count.
"Chris didn't join us until November, so for him to win all three awards
speaks volumes for what he has done." said Beaman.
"I
think he's only missed one match since he signed, and his consistency
and performance levels have been excellent."
In
the youth team awards, Paddy Farrelly (below left) picked up the
Players' Player of the Season, while goalkeeper Alex Langridge (below
right) scooped the Manager's award.
The
evening began with a speech from club chairman Dave Price, who looked
back over a difficult season that eventually saw the Romans end the
campaign on the up with just one defeat in their last nine games - and
that being an unfortunate loss at league champions Market Drayton Town.
He thanked
everyone who helps out behind the scenes, and spoke about the
development work going on around the ground that will eventually provide
the club with some excellent facilities.
"We
have to be patient and put up with the disruption at the moment, but I
can see Rocester being the place to come and play football once it's all
completed." He said.
Price
also pointed out that several of the club's junior teams had won their
leagues, and that most of the other teams finished in the top three in
their age groups so the longer term future is looking very good indeed.
