Under 11s win the Biddulph Town 8-A-Side Tournament...

The under 11's won the Biddulph Town 8-a-side tournament on Sunday 9th June.

On a baking hot Sunday afternoon, the lads kicked the tournament off in style with a 1-0 victory in the first of five group games.

With each game only lasting ten minutes and lengthy breaks in between the games, scoring goals became a difficult achievement and the lads struggled to find their rhythm in the second and third games.

However, a dour 0-0 draw followed by another 1-0 win put the team first in the rankings with just one game to play to qualify for the semi finals.

After a motivational 'chat' with the team's stand-in manager Mark Hopwood, the lads came out fired up and put away four goals without reply to top the group.

The semi final was a hard fought battle. Although the Eagles stormed into an early lead, a valiant response by their opponents produced some top saves by Wes Hopwood in goal which took the Eagles into the final.

Alsager Bank were then beaten 2-0 in the final with the goals being scored by Jordan Campion and George Campion (no relation!).

The squad of nine players didn't concede a single goal throughout the whole tournament - well done lads!
