Under 8s BLUE  - Mid-Staffs Junior Football League

Rocester Elkes Eagles 3 Blythe Bridge Juniors 0

Last time Rocester played Blythe Bridge the game ended in a 1-1 draw which was a fair result, but now that the league has started the Eagles looked much more determined straight from the kick off.

Daniel Clayton scored after 5 minutes with a shot from 10 yards, and early in the second half Johnathon Duckworth's shot deflected off a Blythe Bridge defender's leg into the net to put Rocester two up.

Laurence Wootton finished off strongly to score the 3rd goal.

Goalkeeper Josh Berry didn't have much to do during the game, and the Eagles were comfortable winners.

Rocester Elkes Eagles 1 Topps 2000 1

In their second game Rocester immediately put pressure on Topps, winning a corner. Johnathon Duckworth took it and found Corey Mclaughlin unmarked at the back post where he scored quite esaily.

Good defending by Ed Farnley, Harley Turner, Daniel Clayton and Laurence Wootton kept the score to 1-0 at half time, but the second half saw a mistake by the referee when he blew for a foul then decided to play on and Topps scored an equaliser. Hopefully this won't prove costly in the future.

Rocester were on top for most of the game but Topps will catch other teams out with their ability to get the ball forward quickly. Again Josh Berry not having much to do.

Team: Josh Berry, Ed Farnley, Harley Turner, Johnathon Duckworth, Laurence Wootton, Daniel Clayton, Corey Mclaughlin.

Player of the week: Laurence Wootton.
