Sunday 7th October 2007 Under 15s Rocester Elkes Eagles 4 Moira United Woulds 2 Rocester Elkes Eagles came away with the points after a classic game of two halves. Moira United, last seasons league champions and unbeaten this season started the game in fine form, dominating possession for the first 10 minutes. But as REE became more confident they started to get themselves into the game, becoming first to the ball which gave them the momentum in a half of very few chances. REE took the lead on 21 minutes through leading scorer Matt Redshaw, who latched onto a loose ball following Aden Johnsons corner. REE were now in control
as they took the game to Moira, and they increased their lead on 34
minutes, again through Redshaw, who finished well after a great through
ball by Henry Coley-Fisher. As has happened in previous games REE sat back at three nil ahead and invited Moira to have a go at them. Moira then reduced the arrears on 55 minutes when a high speculative shot left Jessup with no chance. Moira made it 2-3 on 63 minutes with a dubious penalty following a challenge by Greg Fearn. Jessup got a hand to the penalty but couldn't prevent it from going in. With ten minutes left REE were reduced to ten men, when Fearn was harshly adjudged to have committed a foul on the edge of the Eagles box. Fearn receiving his second yellow of the game. REE were now defending desperately, and goal line clearances from Sanders and Price were vital. Eagles should have had a penalty when Redlar was pulled down in the box for a clearer penalty than the one given to Moira. This however was waved away by the referee. REE wrapped up the
points in injury time when Matt Redshaw worked his magic on the left of
the box, firing in a low cross, that was controlled by Price before he
sent a crashing shot into the bottom corner, from 8 yards. |
