Under 13s - Burton Junior Football League

Trent Trophies Division One.

Heather Juniors 1 Rocester Elkes Eagles 4

Rocester Elkes Eagles U13’s played their last league game of the season away to Heather on Sunday in a game that would not make any difference to the teams overall league position.

With a bare eleven players, Rocester chose to change the starting position of some of the players and despite these changes played well as a result against a committed Heather side.

The first half saw Rocester create plenty of chances for themselves but struggle to make anything from them and at half time, the score was still nil-nil.

In the second half, the Rocester defence were beaten and Heather scored the opening goal after 5 minutes of play.

This was the first time that Rocester had conceded a goal first in a game for months and spurred the lads on to step things up.

Ten minutes later an equaliser came from Steve Whitehall, and this was followed up with another goal from Steve a minute later when a cross from James Hornsey was fed through by Jack Wain.

With ten minutes of  the game remaining, James Hornsey passed a ball through to Kyle Selway who took a touch before scoring Rocester’s third goal of the game.

With five minutes remaining, the victory was sealed when a pass from midfield through to Steve Whitehall was calmly fired home to give Steve his hat trick and Rocester a 4-1 win.

Man of the Match was Jamie Ward who was solid at centre back today.

Rocester know look forward to their cup final on 11th May.
