Under 13s - Burton Junior Football League
Trent Trophies Division One.
Rocester Elkes Eagles 4 Heather Juniors 0
Rocester played Heather at home on Sunday at Loxley in the BJFL Division 1.
Kicking up hill in the first half, Rocester looked in control but were made to work hard by an unexpectedly well organised Heather side who played good football and had a number of large physical players.
Rocester managed to create countless chances for themselves down the right wing with Reece Brown repeatedly putting in quality crosses that were just not been picked up by Rocester in front of the Heather goal.
The breakthrough finally cam in the 24th minute when a spell of increased pressure forced Heather to concede an own goal.
Rocester stepped up a gear after forcing the goal and Steve Whitehall managed to net his first goal of the game in the 34th minute with a fine volley from a excellent right-wing cross from Reece Brown.
Rocester managed their third goal of the game seconds before the half time whistle when Olly George passed through the middle of the Heather defence for Steve Whitehall to run onto and claim his second of the game.
In the second half, Rocester did not seem to make much of the downhill advantage but continued to work hard eventually leading to a fourth goal which was provided courtesy of a second Heather own goal.
At full-time, Rocester had secured a reasonably comfortable 4-0 victory and now look forward to a must win game in the league next weekend against a Stretton Eagles side who only need to secure a draw to win the league whereas Rocester must beat Stretton to have a chance of taking the title.
Man of the Match was Callum Liebsch who worked hard throughout and didn’t make a mistake.
