Under 15s - Burton Junior Football League - Friel Homes Division One.

Newhall Tigers 1 Rocester Elkes Eagles 5

The Eagles travelled to Newhall on Sunday morning hoping to keep alive their chances of success in the league. The squad was down to a bare 12 due to injuries and clock changes, and we started with a back three of Mike McCarron, Aiden Johnson and Gary Sucksmith for the first time this season.

Eagles opened very brightly playing some great football, passing with style and ease. They opened the scoring on 6 minutes when Bradley Price headed forward into the path of Matt Redshaw, and he finished with a neat shot into the corner of the net.

Eagles continued to dominate the game, though Newhall were very dangerous on the break.

Redshaw made it 2-0 in the 23rd minute when he finished off a neatly-threaded ball from Henry Coley-Fisher's left foot.

Number three arrived on 31 minutes following a great move which ended with Jez Redlar's cross being side-footed into the net by Sean Dunion.

Ross Bentley made it four seven minutes later when he won the race to beat the advancing Tigers keeper to the ball and lobbed it over him from a tight angle - and all of 30 yards.

HT 0 : 4

After the break the Eagles continued like the first had ended, and Redlar netted a fifth goal in the 46th minute when a corner fell invitingly for him eight yards from goal.

To their credit this seemed to spur Newhall into action and during the remainder of the second half they made more of a game of it.

Eight minutes from time a long ball over Gary Sucksmith's head enabled the Newhall Centre Forward to finish with a well taken goal into the corner of Jessup's net, past the despairing lunge of Johnson.

FT 1 : 5

Eagles produced one of their best footballing performances during the first half, which couldn't always be matched after the break.

The way the ball was passed and players moved off the ball raised the bar higher. This performance sets the team up well for their remaining four league games.

A special mention to Zak in the Newhall goal. He has an outstanding game.
