Sunday 30th September 2007
Rocester Elkes Eagles U-15s continued their rich vein of early season form with a fine win over the team that beat them in last season's League Cup Final - Winshill Gold.
Going into the game Eagles changed formation, bringing in Joe Handforth and Lee Mills to play in the full back positions with McCarron returning at centre-half.
REE started in positive fashion and should have gone ahead in the first minute when Jez Redlar tried to chip the keeper when clean through, a low shot may have been a better decision.
REE completely dominated the first half, however a mixture of good goalkeeping and unlucky finishing saw the teams go in at half time scoreless.

The second half began as the first half had finished with Eagles on top. They opened the scoring three minutes after the interval through Matt Redshaw who finished neatly after a good passing move.
Ten minutes later Sean Dunion out jumped the tall Winshill goalkeeper to get his head to a ball that looped into the net for the second goal.
At two up REE sat back on their lead where they should have continued to have the ascendancy. A dubious free kick was awarded which resulted in Winshill getting back into the game as Jessup failed to clear the ball.
Two minutes later Winshill were back level, again through poor defending, when the ball spun inside the far post.
At two each, Eagles then started to get back into the game, becoming more decisive with their passing. They went ahead with what can only be described as a superb finish by Redshaw. Put through on goal he finished with a chip over the advancing keeper from twenty yards.
REE wrapped the game up when substitute Richard Greaves fired a venomous low cross shot into the corner of the net, two minutes after getting onto the pitch.

Eagles looked strong all over the pitch and if they can continue to produce performances like this, they will not be far away at the end of the season
