Rocester Elkes Eagles 10 Willington 1
Rocester Elkes Eagles entertained Willington FC at Elkes on Sunday morning due to the Abbotsholme school pitch being unfit.
Willington started brightly as REE struggled to keep hold of the ball, and they took the lead in 11 minutes when a shot from the edge of the area crept into the bottom corner after the ball was not cleared.
Eagles equalised in 18 minutes with a fine goal. Michael McCarron picked up the ball in midfield and fed Jez Redlar on the right. Redlar strode into the box and pulled the ball back for Sean Dunion who finished first time with a crisp shot from twelve yards, the ball flying high into the top corner.
If that goal was good, number two for REE was even better. A free kick for Willington on the left corner of the Eagles penalty area was cleared to Bradley Price. Price brought the ball out of defence and passed onto Redlar on the right flank. Redlar in turn played in Aden Johnson down the left wing. Johnson ran the ball into the box and crossed for Ross Bentley to side foot home from eight yards. A fantastic move breaking from their own penalty area and scoring within seconds with some fabulous one touch football.
Eagles made it three one on 27 minutes when Joe Handforth finished well from a very tight angle.
Ross Bentley made it four
on 29, and Richard Greaves made it five on 34, scoring from a twice taken
penalty, after Greg Fearn had been upended in the box.
Brad Price made it 7-1 on 59 minutes when he headed Joe Handforth's cross into the net.
Matt Redshaw completed his hat-trick with two quick goals in 68 and 70 minutes before Michael McCarron completed the scoring with a close range shot in the 75th minute.
