The U9 s today played two closely fought games in the Mid Staffs Junior league at Stone Alleynes.

The first was a very entertaining end to end contest against Berkswich, with both teams fully committed and takles coming in from all corners.

In the last couple of minutes of a close match, a breakaway by Berkswich gave them the only goal.

Going down 1-0 was a bit disappointing after such a good game.

The second match against Penkridge Juniors was again end to end and closely contested, but a lovely through ball by James Thorley gave Ollie Ford just one defender and the keeper to beat, which he did.

In the second half the team pushed forward and had quite a few chances to finish the game, one from James hitting one post, going across the goal hitting the other post and coming out. How Close can you get!!

The full team was Marcus Bloor; Kyle Backhouse; Hannah Kiddle; Jordan Hibberd; Sam Chilvers (Captain); James Thorley; Alex Wood; Ollie Smith; Ollie Ford and Harry Cooper.

I was delighted with how the team are coming on, and the players who didn't make it today made me realise we have a very good team building for the future.

Todays player of the week was another defender (Kyle Backhouse last week) and this time for her non stop running great tackling and overall solid play Hannah Kiddle. Well done.

They were all great today, and at the end of the last game all red faces had big smiles!!
