Under 9s - Mid-Staffs Junior Football League - Division One.

Match One

Rocester Elkes Eagles 2 Eccleshall Eagles 1

Played on a very sticky pitch at Alleynes Stone, this was always going to be a tough game with Eccleshall played 4 won 4.

From the start the team were obviously up for a game with the first goal coming from a head/face shot from Harry Cooper.

The Eccleshall team were always posing a threat but great defending from Jordan, Hannah and Kyle backed up by Marcus in goals held out until an equaliser came.

The team kept on pushing until the winner came from Jack. A great end to end game and a credit to both teams.

Match Two

Rocester Elkes Eagles 2 Hawkins Sports 1

What appeared on paper to be the easier of the two games did not start at all well (they sometimes don’t - just ask Man Utd this weekend!).

We always felt that the first goal would settle us down and we could push on. It did eventually come from Jack and we then got the second.

All credit to Hawkins as they kept on coming and gave a few shocks, and eventually got a goal to make it a nervous last few minutes.

The team held out to record their first played 2 won 2 weekend.

Well done to the whole squad: Marcus Bloor; Kyle Backhouse; Hannah Kiddle; Jordan Hibberd; James Thorley; Sam Chilvers; Harry Cooper; Jack Green; Ollie Smith.

This weeks man of the match going to James Thorley.

I was very pleased with everyone this weekend with the man of the match being the hardest yet. This gives us played 4 won 3  drawn one. If anyone wants to see the league tables go to the U9s page and follow the link.
