Under 8s BLUE  - Mid-Staffs Junior Football League

MATCH 1 - Rocester Elkes Eagles Blue 2 Blythe Bridge 0

Eagles travelled to Rowley Park, Stafford on Sunday and took on Blythe Bridge in the first of their two games.

Eagles started very brightly and put Blythe Bridge under pressure from the kick off, and it was no surprise when Lawrence Wootton gave them the lead midway through the first half.

In the second half Blythe Bridge came more into the game and it needed Eagles goalkeeper Gabriel Wilde to pull off a couple of fine saves.

The Eagles upped their game after this and it was Lawrence Wootton again who turned nicely in the box to shoot home from 10 yards to make the score 2-0

MATCH 2 - Rocester Elkes Eagles Blue 5 Topps 2000 Red 1

This was much better performance against Topps 2000 Red, as the last time they played each other it ended in a 1-1 draw

It did not take long for the Eagles to take the lead as Lawrence Wootton set Corey McLaughlin free in the box and the Eagles striker scored from six yards.

Corey McLaughlin made it 2-0 shortly afterwards following a mistake from the Topps defender, and it soon became 3-0 when Lawrence Wootton scored from close range just before half time.

It was a solid first half performance with the Eagles defenders Edward Farnley and Harley Turner firmly in control.

In the second half the Eagles went further ahead as Corey McLaughlin completed his hat trick.

Topps 2000 Red did manage a consolation goal which their striker finished well from 8 yards, but the Eagles completed the scoring with a superb free kick from outside the box from Jonathon Duckworth.

Manager Jim Hulme was very pleased with their performances in both games.

The team... Gabriel Wilde, Edward Farnley, Harley Turner, Josh Berry, Daniel Clayton, Lawrence Wootton, Jonathon Duckworth and Corey Mclaughlin.

Player of the Week: Gabriel Wilde - well done!
