Under 15s - Burton Junior Football League - Friel Homes Division One.

Marlborough Rovers 1 Rocester Elkes Eagles 8

Rocester Elkes Eagles travelled to Moira on Sunday morning to take on last years Runners Up Marlborough Rovers, who were another team REE failed to beat last season, drawing with them twice.

REE started the game kicking up hill with the wind behind them. From the start of the game the Eagles pressed and harried Marlborough, giving them no time to settle and play their normal flowing, passing football.

Eagles went one up through leading goal scorer Matt Redshaw when he converted Henry Coley-Fisher exquisite cross.

Then ten minutes later Eagles doubled their lead when Ross Bentley twisted and turned on the edge on the box before hitting a shot on the turn which crept in at the keepers near post.

Eagles kept the ascendancy for the remainder of the half without adding to the score, and limiting Marlborough to very few chances, if any.

HT 0 : 2

Redshaw put eagles three up on 49 minutes when his shot somehow squirmed between the keepers legs, but Marlborough were by no means out of it even though they struggled to keep possession due to the commitment of every single Eagles player.

Ross Bentley made it four on 60 minutes when he touched Coley-Fishers goal bound effort into the net, and that was quickly followed by another three goals as Jeremy Redlar (66) from close range; Redshaw, who completed his hat-trick (66); and Caza McCarron (68), who scored with a header from substitute Joe Handforth's free kick.

Rovers managed to breach the Eagles defence on 72 minutes when a well struck shot gave Jessup no chance, but Eagles went straight up the other end of the pitch and scored number eight when a cross was deflected into their own net, denying Bentley who was poised to wrap up his hat-trick.

FT 1 : 8

This goes down as probably the best ever performance by the Eagles so far, bringing together everything the lads have worked so hard in training for, and taking it all onto the pitch into a game .

Next week Eagles are at home to Gresley Rovers, kick off 10:30 at Abbotsholme.

Team: Jessup; Jones; McCarron; Sanders; Mills; Redlar; Coley-Fisher; Price; Johnson; Redshaw; Bentley; Subs( all used) Godfrey; Dunion; Greaves; Parsons; Handforth
