Under 15s - Staffordshire F.A. Youth Sunday Cup 1st Round.

Springvale Colts 2 Rocester Elkes Eagles 4

Rocester Elkes Eagles U-15s progressed into the last 32 of the Staffordshire Youth Sunday Cup on Sunday with a hard fought victory over Wolverhampton-based Springvale Colts, who currently sit on top of the Bilston League Division 1.

REE went a goal down inside two minutes when Lee Mills deflected a corner into his own net.

The Colts made the most of the sloping pitch as they bullied REE for the opening 20 minutes, although they didn't seriously threaten the Eagles goal during that time.

Matt Redshaw equalised when he converted a long cross from Jez Redlar, but much of the game was still being played in the Eagles half and the Colts regained the lead when their centre forward converted after seemingly kicking the ball out of the oncoming Jessup's hands.

H/T 2 : 1

Changes were made at half time and Eagles started the second half in more commanding style.

Ross Bentley soon made it two each when he finished a neat move involving Johnson and Redshaw.

Much of the remainder of the game was played in the Colts half, with the Eagles defence of Jones, McCarron, Sanders and Fearn keeping the Colts' limited attacks at bay.

Eagles finally went ahead when Redshaw finished superbly with his head following a Johnson corner.

Jessup then made a wonder save when he pushed a goal bound effort out for a corner, and the Eagles completed the scoring in injury time through Dunion, who chased a long ball which the keeper failed to hold before tapping it in from close range.
