Under 13s - Burton Junior Football League - Trent Trophies Division One.

T.S. Sports Claret 1 Rocester Elkes Eagles 3

Rocester Elkes Eagles played their fourth game of the season away at Shobnall Sports complex to TS Sports on Sunday in the U13’s Trent Trophies League in the BJFL.

Rocester started the game well and had numerous opportunities to score which unfortunately were not taken until a cross from Reece Brown from the right wing was shot into goal by George Pauley after 13mins to give Rocester the lead.

TS Sports however were undeterred and continued to pressurise Rocester and force a corner which was poorly marked and allowed TS Sports to equalise after 20 mins.

With the socre level, TS Sports continued to apply pressure and the game saw end to end football for the next 5-10 minutes until Rocester started to apply more pressure and get a couple of chances on the TS Sports goal both of which were unfortunately placed wide by Joe Ring.

With 3 minutes of the first half remaining, Rocester won a corner and Bradley Erasmus managed to pick up a the ball inside the 6 yard box and score to put Rocester into the lead.

Just before half time Rocester’s lead looked in jeopardy when a harsh challenge in the 18 yard box lead to Rocester conceding a penalty, however, goalkeeper Chris Redshaw stepped up to the challenge and his lightening reactions denied TS Sports a goal just before half time.

In the second half, Rocester were a little more composed and communicated better as a team. However, despite having more of the possession Rocester wasted numerous chances due to a poor first touch and this lost possession allowed TS Sports to give Rocester a tougher challenge than they should have.

With 7 minutes of the game remaining, Rocester took a goal kick which was fed through to Reece Brown who took a touch and shot to score a seal Rocester's victory.

At full time, Rocester were victorious with a well deserved 3-1 victory which was very much due to the heroic efforts of their midfield maestro Olly George, who probably covered twice the distance on the pitch of any other Rocester player and contributed to both attacking and defensive play during the game.

Rocester Elkes Eagles now sit 2 points clear at the top of the U13’s Frist Division.
